Stevenson & Co. is seeking a Gallery Associate to join its Charleston gallery. We are looking for someone poised, capable, and genuinely interested in contemporary art, with an understanding that discretion, presentation, and personal conduct matter as much as efficiency.
The position includes assisting collectors and visitors; supporting sales and correspondence; maintaining the gallery and exhibition spaces to a consistently high standard; assisting with installations, openings, artist talks, and private events; maintaining artwork inventory and documentation; coordinating packing, shipping, and local artwork movement; and supporting the administrative and digital work of the gallery.
The ideal candidate is polished without being mannered, observant without being intrusive, and comfortable in a setting where hospitality is expected to feel natural. Excellent judgment, clear communication, reliability, and close attention to detail are essential, as is a willingness to handle both the visible and less visible work of the gallery with equal care.
Prior experience in a gallery, museum, auction house, design firm, luxury retail environment, or similarly service-oriented setting is preferred. To be considered, please submit a résumé and a brief introduction outlining your experience and interest in joining Stevenson & Co.
